One & Only, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town

The One&Only Cape Town hotel is part of One&Only’s world renowned, ultra-luxury hotel line. It offers 6-star luxury and style to the most discerning guests. Situated in the V&A Waterfront, whose accommodation is synonymous with luxury, the hotel has been designed to celebrate all that makes Cape Town a uniquely South African city.

Two world-famous chefs ensure that the restaurant provides an unparalleled dining experience. The spa offers a range of luxury treatments tailored to overall wellness, including special treatments for teens and there is a state-of-the-art fitness centre.

No luxury hotel would be complete without a luxury boutique and the One&Only Cape Town provides that and more in NEO, a boutique with designer collections fresh from the runway. The boutique even has a champagne bar and iPod station so guests can socialise while they shop.

Kids are welcome with a fully-supervised KidsOnly programme for youngsters aged four to 11. Activities include jewellery making, ostrich egg painting, African dance, junior yoga and excursions to the World of Birds, Planetarium and Penguin Colony.

Teens can take part in a separate programme which includes a movie and game lounge for Wii, Xbox and PlayStation games. More active arrangements include rock climbing, ice-skating, indoor karting and bowling.

All of this luxury comes at a price; be prepared to pay from R2999 per night.

Pezula Resort Hotel and Spa, Knysna

Situated within the Pezula Resort, the hotel consists of 78 suites with private balconies, log fireplaces and en-suite bathrooms. Guests have access to a state-of-the-art spa and gym, gourmet restaurant, designer boutique, champagne and whiskey bar, cigar lounge, library and games room and the renowned Championship Golf Course.

Children’s programmes are available for children older than four. Emphasis is on healthy, outdoor activities. Older children and adults can enjoy the Field of Dreams sports complex, which contains a cricket oval, soccer, hockey and soft ball fields, four tennis courts and 300m golf driving range. Canoeing up the Noetzie River, horse riding and hiking are also available.

The Westcliff Hotel, Johannesburg

Situated in what is considered by many to be Jo’burg’s most exclusive suburbs, The Westcliff Hotel provides guests with panoramic views of the city, not to mention exquisite luxury. Suites cater to every creature comfort, while the Botanica Spa Suites indulge the senses with calming treatments and all-over body pampering. Heated pools, tennis courts and a state-of-the-art gym provide more active pursuits. Golf enthusiasts will be pleased to know that 36 of the top 100 golf courses in South Africa are all within one hour’s drive from the hotel.

The Oyster Box Hotel, KwaZulu-Natal

The Oyster Box Hotel has several distinguishing features, including a complimentary glass of signature iced tea on arrival, soap and pillow menus and special, pet-friendly facilities. While many hotels and accommodation facilities in South Africa have strict no pets allowed policies, the Oyster Box welcomes furry friends with a range of pet beds and menus.

Children receive a gift bag on arrival and are treated to free in-room movies from the hotel collection. Children’s bathrobes, prams and cots and children’s menus are also available. A fully equipped and supervised Children’s Club provides games and activities to keep children entertained while adults enjoy the private fitness club and spa.

Spa treatments are personally designed to individual guests and the spa also provides South Africa’s only Hammam, a “sensual bathing retreat” born in ancient Rome. There is also spa dining for those who want to enjoy optimal health.
